What is this? Standards is a system for managing yourself. It was built by Jake Lodwick to improve his own discipline and organization (see how it happened
here).
WeHaveStandards.com lets you quickly generate the same charts Jake uses, but customized for you. The charts are downloaded as PDFs for you to print.
The service is currently free.
Each week, print a new sheet. Put a check in the box when you meet a Standard and an X when you don't.
At the end of the week, revise the list slightly and repeat the process.
If it's your first week, start with no more than 3 items.
Each week, choose a new theme and print a new sheet.
Stare at the list every morning for two minutes, or just post it prominently in your personal space.
At the bottom is a grid showing your progress through the current decade: each box is one week.
To overcome the anxieties and depressions of contemporary life, individuals must become independent of the social environment to the degree that they no longer respond exclusively in terms of its rewards and punishments. To achieve such an autonomy, a person has to learn to provide rewards to herself.
